Park regulations

The rules of the National Park and Marine Protected Area of Asinara are contained in the two founding decrees published in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic on 20.12.2002.
The full documents can be downloaded from the Laws and Regulations section of this website.

In summary, for the National Park, zones with different levels of protection are established:
  • Zone A: integral reserve of exceptional naturalistic and environmental interest, where access is not allowed, except for operations strictly related to the management of the Park. Located in Cala Sant'Andrea, Cala di Scombro and north near the lighthouse of Punta dello Scorno;
  • Zone B: of relevant interest, which represents the natural heart of the Asinara Park and where everything that does not disturb nature, the environment and the landscape is allowed.
  • Zone C: of relevant landscape value, which includes the most anthropized areas of Campu Perdu, Trabuccato, Fornelli and Case Bianche, where all activities normally allowed in an urban center are allowed.
  • Zone D: urban areas of Cala Reale and Cala d’Oliva, for economic and social promotion where activities compatible with the park’s institutional purposes are allowed.
The Marine Protected Area is divided as follows:
  • Zone A: integral reserve, where only rescue and research actions are allowed.
  • Zone B: general reserve, allowing activities typically carried out in marine areas (such as diving, swimming, sailing or rowing, authorized professional fishing, snorkeling, fish tourism, etc.).
  • Zone C: partial reserve, which can be considered a buffer zone with the external sectors of the AMP.
